Kitchen Remodeling | Making Your Kitchen Pet-Friendly
Your dog or cat is a part of your family so it’s no surprise that you may want to consider their needs when you are thinking about kitchen remodeling. These ideas for a pet-friendly kitchen will inspire and excite you to start planning your project right away.
Feeding Station- One of your bottom cabinets can quickly become a feeder station with a pull-out drawer and built-in food and water dishes. Feeder stations can also have a bin to store dry food in and a pull-out drawer for leashes, collars, and other pet essentials. You can easily add a feeder station to the end of a kitchen island or have one that stands alone in a corner as well. These can be painted or stained to match the kitchen color scheme or be completely unique to stand out.
Built-in Beds- Pets like to lay around and nap in high traffic areas because they don’t want to miss any of the action. If you want to avoid your dog or cat sprawling across the kitchen floor during meal times or while cooking, but also don’t want to kick them out of the kitchen, consider a built-in pet bed. Kitchen islands are the perfect place to install a bed for your pet.
Doggy Door- Replacing the door is probably a part of your kitchen remodeling plan but don’t forget about a doggy door! If your back yard is fenced in, sometimes installing a doggy door that allows your pet to let themselves out to the bathroom is a great way to free up your time during the day. You can also have doggy doors built into walls underneath countertops, or in other creative locations in your kitchen.
