Bathroom Remodeling | Sink Options for Your Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom Remodeling | One of the most important decisions you will need to make when designing your bathroom remodel is the type of sink you will install. Your bathroom sink is the centerpiece of the bathroom. Choosing one that is both stylish and functional, is important for your bathroom remodel design plan.

Self-Rimming Sinks- A self-rimming sink is the easiest style to install and can be fixed into your existing fixture or counter. These are the most popular style of sink and are also called drop-in sinks. A rink encircles the sink bowl and supports its weight on the countertop.

Vessel Sinks- Vessel sinks are usually bowl-shaped but can come in many other shapes, including custom ones. Also called countertop sinks, they sit on top of the counter and do not need undermount installation. They do require a popup drain but are a bold design choice that sits higher. These sinks are not the best choice for children because of their height.

Wall Mounted- Wall-mounted sinks are most often seen in industrial or commercial spaces but can be used in residential homes as well. Tiny or cramped bathrooms work well with wall mounted sinks because of their space-saving feature which does not require a vanity or countertop for installation. Wall mounted sinks can be mounted at any height on the wall.

Pedestal Sink- A Pedestal sink is perfect for small bathrooms such as those in an apartment. They don’t take up much floor space and don’t require a vanity or counter space for installation. These sinks usually feature a wide basin to allow for some flat surface area with a narrow base.

Undermount Sinks- Undermount sinks need to be installed into a countertop and allow for easy cleaning and maximized counter space. These sinks do require more intense installation which can be easy during a bathroom remodel, but they are growing in popularity due to their functionality and convenience.

When deciding which sink is best for your bathroom to remodel, keep in mind your floorspace, vanity style, amount of counter space and storage needed, as the overall style or aesthetic of the bathroom.
